Marco Giovenale (1969) lives in Rome. He works in an antiquarian bookshop. Been an artshow promoter. Lived in Florence for a brief period. Degree thesis on Roberto Roversi’s recent poetry. His site: Slowforward (now WordPress; the period 2003-2006 hosted by Splinder). He founded (in 2003) and still edits the mag bina, and the irregular fascicle lettere grosse (born in Oct., 2009). He’s editor of: GAMMM, IEPI (International Exchange for Poetic Invention), Flux and The flux I share, Surrism/notitle, wee image, compostxt, recognitiones, Flux Usa, hotel stendhal, Poetry Kessel-lo, Accattone, «Sud». He’s “editor at large” (!) of the semi-annual tabloid of literature «OR». He collaborates with La camera verde (of Giovanni Andrea Semerano), and for that publisher he runs & edits Felix, experimental poetry chapbooks+readings series.

He writes reviews of poetry and literature for the newspaper «il manifesto» (+its blog, too). He has been editor of «Private», «Il Segnale», «Il Grandevetro», «Le Voci della Luna», TaKinG thE BriM_ TooK thE BrOoM, remix_runran, sAyingsometHing, Italianistica OnLine, Absolute poetry and Biagio Cepollaro E-dizioni.

In october 2005 he organized and directed the first section of the festival RomaPoesia: five reading sessions (Poesia ultima – Generazione 1968-78, Auditorium di Roma) and one workshop with Carla Subrizi and Gianfranco Baruchello (L’esperienza-divenire delle arti, Fondazione Baruchello: hence the book published in 2006). In 2008 he edited a book of selected poems and proses of Roberto Roversi: Tre poesie e alcune prose (Luca Sossella Editore).

At the same time, as a part of the wee chap project by Dusie, also the chapbook Detect is printed. It collects two English proses (with Italian translation by Alessia Folcio and Gherardo Bortolotti). In Feb. 2008 A gunless tea is also available online as a pdf file [2 Mb] — at dusie.org, issue 7 (see “vie et pli”).

With the poems of Ira, inazione, ira he’s among the winners of the 2009 Delfini prize.

His texts have been translated into French, English, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Dutch, Swedish. He’s among the authors included in Nono Quaderno italiano di poesia contemporanea (Marcos y Marcos, 2007). With the vispo installation CD-K (collab with Xavier Stern) he joins in the UberTrashung artshow+magazine: gallery Garage 103 (in Nice / France) from March 17th to May 12th 2007. The text, CDK, is published in March 2009 as a chapbook & e-book by Tir aux pigeons. The magazine and webzine “Chernovik” (directed by Alex Ocheretyansky) hosts in June 2007 two low-res vispo fragments by MG, and a series of frames from a long clip/videopoem by the artist Asya Nemchenok elaborating and including mp3 readings, manuscripts and texts from Il segno meno (Manni, Lecce 2003). Some new Asemic Sibyls in Nazione indiana and Sleepingfish, and in the Anthology Spidertangle edited by Miekal And (Xexoxial Editions, 2009). With a suite of photos (“légende : isomaisons”) he took part in the Runbook project (see the February fascicle, 2009).
